Today was Chicago downtown day. Driving there from Naperville took about an hour.
Managed to find a nice parking spot and managed a very good bit of parallel parking. Even if say so myself.
Spent most of the time exploring the area (which I actually know very well) on foot. No big changes. A couple of disappointments when finding out that one of my favourite wine bar “CRU” no longer exists.
A quick bite to eat at lunch time at the “Corner Bakery”
before heading to the river via Michigan Avenue.
I love these towers with underground berths for the boats. I certainly could live in one of those.
Heading back to the “old town” early evening to park the car near the theatre where we are going to see a comedy show later.
A brisk 30′ walk through the old town to the excellent “Hugo Frog Bar Fish House” for aperitif
before joining our friends J&T at “Le Colonial” for a French Vietnamese dinner.
Next stop is back through the old town to the well know Second City theatre to see an excellent and very funny show.
Thank you to our friends J&T for organising all this.
Ride back home for a last bottle of wine. Tomorrow we start heading South.
