At the time of writing the temperature outside is in the high 20s centigrade, it is noticeably cooler at night which allows for better sleep. Autumn arrived on time during the last third of the month of September but by the looks of it we might enjoy a long indian summer. It has to be remembered that we experienced extreme floods last year at the beginning of October. I certainly wish for no repeat this year. I was reading earlier on that there are some nasty storms in northern Europe and in north Germany where trains have been stopped in the town where I used to live in and will be in a few weeks in time for the year end holidays.
But back to September.
Quite a busy month with a fair amount of visitors and a couple of trips.
It is now tradition every September to go away for a few days at the beginning of the month to a new town / destination. This year we chose Portugal with a direct flight to Porto for a couple of nights, followed by a drive to Nazaré for a further night before heading to Lisbon for almost 3 days before driving back to Porto for one overnight and catching our plane home the next day.
Towards the end of the month we accompanied our friends from the UK for a couple ofdays in Pau. I had the opportunity to meet up with my friend P. who lives there.
Talking of visitors, we had quite a few which is exactly what we were expecting and wishing when moving to this part of the world. My brother and his wife accompanied by their son and his girlfriend came at the beginningof the month.
At the same time my son and his wife flew in from Germany. In fact we left them to it in our house when we flew off to Portugal.
At the end of the month my friend C and his wife J flew down to Toulouse where we oicked them up. After a few days we went with them to Pau where we left them as their were continuing to Spain and then back to Biarritz to catch a flight home a few days later.
In a couple of words “too much”, here is just an extract:
- Last day of the Feria
- Tour of wine producers
- Musical evening at “L’Ecurie
- Pool parties at home
- Saturday lunch times at Café Saillant
- Lunch at the “Brasserie des 4 Temps”
- Lunch au “Verre d’Un”
- Discovery tour “Cocoa & Grapes”
- A few diner parties
- etc, etc, etc
I am currently on a strict and dry diet since 10 days. Not too sure how I shall cope with tonight’s dinner out at friends!!!
Got to start planning November.
