Another calamity coming from the US. A few years ago I purchased a “Chest Transmitter” to monitor my heart frequence when I do excercises. Not something I do regularly but I was recovering from a heart attack and was a bit more serious about it all. Occasionally I still use my excercise bike and do some cardio training. This is the case at the moment, not because it is January but because I have an appointment with the cardiologist in the coming weeks for an effor test which basically consists of being hooked up to monitors and pedal furiously to reach the highest heart rate as possible.
I realised yesterday that the afore mentioned monitor is no longer working and needing a new battery. Not knowing how to open the instrument I went on the internet and looked for Polar model T34. The good news is that it is 100% waterproof which might come handy next spring / summer in my swimming pool. The extremely bad news is taht it is not possible to change the battery. It is simply sealed in. So after the more or less guaranteed 5 years or 2500 hours of service, you simply have to throw the thing away and buy a new one. This is typical American attitude which I can no longer tolerate. Nothing to do with money, simply the waste and the non ecological thinking.
So Polar you have been added to my US products to boycott and I encourage as many as possible to do the same.
