Confinement – Day 3

Thursday March 19th

Nothing really new to report. Simply trying to settle down to a routine.

My spouse went out briefly to do a bit of essential food shopping. There was no police checks of the needed derogation certificate. There were the usual couple of stalls at the Thursday market and the supermarket was opened and people were respecting the recommended minimum distances.

For the time being the main market on Saturday is maintained. It is however still in the realm of possibilities that a central directive will forbid it. Let us wait.

The “small” Thursday market this morning

So far so good

Daily questions

There were some interesting questions from some yesterday. I tried to contact diverse local police departments without any real results. The question regarding the 7 days parking did not interest them at all and they have other priorities. In the end I wrote to the responsible minister in Paris but I would be surprised if I get any response.

I keep at it.

New rules – Important

1. I received a short while ago my daily email from the French administration which had an interesting new point. Basically to avoid unnecessary going out, you should not go to your doctor for  a repeat prescription.

In order to avoid any interruption of treatment detrimental to the health of a patient receiving chronic treatment, retail pharmacies may dispense, when the validity of a renewable prescription has expired, a number of boxes per prescription line guaranteeing the continuation of treatment until 31 May 2020. The treatment is first dispensed within a period of one month before it can be renewed. These drugs are reimbursed by the Health Insurance under the usual conditions.

The pharmacist informs the doctor. He affixes to the prescription the stamp of his pharmacy, the date of dispensing and the number of boxes dispensed.

2. By prefectoral decree, access to the following natural areas and tourist sites are prohibited until 15 April 2020:
– forests
– seaside beaches, and inland waterfront areas
– leisure centres
– City of Carcassonne itself and areas around castles and abbeys
– on the banks of the Canal du Midi

Any infringement will be punishable by a fine of 135€.

Is walking along the Aude allowed? I am trying to find out.

I am looking into a possible (free of charge) multi video / chat system which would allow us to get together virtually. We coud even get some entertainment from our musicians. Worth a try. It keeps me busy anyway.
