Sunday March 22nd
Yesterday was a fairly quiet day and I have been able to catch up with a lot of overdue administrative tasks. I only have 2 left and namely:
– Start my income tax return for 2019. It is not due, nor is it open but I might as well get all the paperwork ready for input. By the way the website for data input is scheduled to open on April 7th till May 19th. Things might change due to the current virus crisis.
– Reply to the French retirement office who is asking many questions although they know I have been working abroad practically 30 years.
►Information: The townhall of Carcassonne has published a list of shops and services which remain open during the current confinement period. It can be found at the following link.
►Information: Today is Mother’s day 💐 but only in the UK. You will have to wait for May 10th in the US, Switzerland, Belgium et Québec, and June 7th in France.
►Information: The town of Montpellier has, starting yesterday, instaured a complete curfew from 10pm to 5am. All markets are closed as well. I am sure it won’t be long before the same comes here in Carcassonne.
►Information: EasyJet will ground its aircraft from Tuesday 24th March following the implementation of containment measures in France to combat the outbreak of the Covid-19 coronavirus. Like the vast majority of European airlines, EasyJet, France’s second largest air carrier, will ground 90% of its fleet in the face of the coronavirus epidemic from Tuesday 24 March. Only a few rare flights will be operated, to and from the United Kingdom, as well as the latest repatriations of French tourists abroad.
►Fun bits: That one made us laugh. Click on this link to see the video.
More to come as the day goes by
►Statistics: Top 10 countries according to the deaths count.
Saturday 21st March

The largest incease in percentage compared to the previous day is the UK with 13,14% followed by Holland with 12,8% and the US by 12,58%.
Friday 20th March
