Today is the last day of the first 2 weeks of consignement. I remember going to Carrefour exactly 2 weeks ago, the last time I went out of the house for shopping.

A fairly quiet weekend in France as far as news and developments are concerned. The Covid-19 infection curve is still on the up. We are being told that positive improvement due to the confinement will not start to show before the end of the week at the earliest.

The USA is now the country in the world with the most cases and approaching 150.000. I think I shall start a comparison between the main continents Asia, Europe, North and South America, Middle East & Africa. That should keep me busy for a while.

The magnitude of the number of people infected with the Covid-19 coronavirus among the 2,000 to 2,500 participants in a week of prayer and fasting that took place in Mulhouse (East of France) from 17 to 24 February was underestimated. According to an investigation by Radio France’s Investigation Unit, more than 1,000 people contracted the virus during the religious gathering. Mulhouse is Covid-19’s main gateway to France and has been the starting point for numerous contaminations throughout the country.

You can go to a repair centre for your car if you find one that has remained open, if absolutely necessary. The technical inspection is not included in these exceptions. Even if it is unclear at the moment about the legality of the situation, it is likely that the police will be sympathetic if you drive (for good reasons) after the time limit for the technical inspection has passed.

While the fine for non-compliance with containment still amounts to 135 euros, the fine for a repeat offence within 15 days has been increased to 200 euros. If more than three violations within 30 days are found, the person concerned is liable to six months’ imprisonment and a fine of 3,750 euros.
