Last day of March already. Despite the long confinement days for the past 2 weeks, time seems to pass fairly quickly. Probably all these statistics I do!!! I have to say that verifying information to avoid fake news and statements is very time consuming as well. One has to cross match information from different sources and try and verify the sources. Not an easy job and no guarantee of 100% accuracy.

My friend Chris in Brixham gave me this info. It was supposed to be for the local crowd but apparently in excess of 400k people joined in. Worth a try I think.

The 1st of month usually indicates changes in the law or new decrees coming to life. There are 4 main changes as from tomorrow, however only 3 are probably applicable to most if not all of us.

Allowances to handicapped people are upgraded or extended (Details not studied)
Unemployed insurance benefits reforms are postponed (Details not studied)
The end of the winter truce is postponed by 2 months. From 1 November until 31 March, there is a so-called “Trêve hivernale / winter truce”: during this period, people who occupy a dwelling cannot be thrown out.
Gas prices down by 4.4% (which is impacting most of us). Here are the details:
The Energy Regulation Commission (CRE) detailed in a press release that the regulated gas sales tariffs applied by Engie to millions of French households will be reduced by 4.4% as of April 1. “This reduction is 1.1% for customers who use gas for cooking, 2.5% for those who have a dual use, cooking and hot water, and 4.6% for households that heat with gas“.
