La vérité d’aujourd’hui n’est pas forcément vraie demain
Day 67 in Carcassonne and 6th day of controlled de-confinement

It is now official, the second round of the municipal elections, assuming the current epidemic status does not deteriorate will take place on June 28th. The campaign will be mostly “virtual”. There are a few who obviously quite unhappy about this and the comments and debates on the news channels are plenty. For my part I would like to get this over with. There are approx. 5.000 towns out of the 36.000 which need a second round. Unfortunately most are the larger towns like Paris, Marseille, Lyon etc. What one must realise is that whilst there is no new mayor, all large projects are at a stop. The cureent mayor not being in a poisiyion to sanction large expenses for the next few years in case he does not get re-elected.

▶︎ UK quarantine
The United Kingdom will impose a 14 days quarantine on travellers arriving from abroad in order to “contain” the spread of the new coronavirus, said the Minister for Northern Ireland, Brandon Lewis, on Friday 22 May. “Obviously, returning British citizens will be able to quarantine themselves at home. Visitors will have to make arrangements to carry out this quarantine for 14 days,” he added.
Minister Lewis said there is no exemption “at this time” for travellers arriving from countries with low transmission rates. According to British media reports, travellers will be required to fill out a form with their details on arrival and will be subject to random checks.
Offenders will face a fine of £1,000 (about €1,117). However, exceptions are made for road hauliers and medical staff, as well as for Irish people, but not for travellers arriving from France, as recently suggested by London and Paris.
▶︎ French quarantine
France announced that they will also impose a quarantine from travelers from the UK when the UK starts.
▶︎ Aviation guidelines
If you manage to catch a plane, EASA (European Union Aviation Safet Agency) has issued new guidelines in view of COVID-19.
You can dowload the document here.
It makes interesting reading and new rules are being introduced like only passengers can enter terminals etc etc.
▶︎ Chloroquine
Analysis of nearly 15,000 Covid-19 patients treated with these drugs within 24 hours of diagnosis shows a significant increase in mortality. The study was published on May 22 in the leading scientific journal The Lancet.
This is not yet a signal that the use of chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) against Covid-19 has been completely discontinued, but it is looking more and more like it. The study, published on May 22 in the leading scientific journal The Lancet, should challenge those who, like U.S. President Donald Trump, still think that if it doesn’t do any good, it can’t do any harm!
