Day 73 and 5th day of de-confinement week 3

Not too much new today apart from the fact it is already the last day but one of this special month of May. Bars and restaurants in town are busy planning and organising their re-opening early next week. Not everyone will actually open on Tuesday as they need in some cases a bit more time to “digest” and adapt to the 70 pages of the booklet issued by the governement with the expected rules.
On a completely different subject, I have has a few thoughts to convert my old classic Mehari to electric power.

SOMETHING NEW FOR YOUR OLD ONES
R-FIT is a Retrofit device that allows replacing the combustion engine of a vehicle with an electric motor in order to have a car running without CO2 emissions. This practice is now legalized in France as in many European countries previously.
Much less expensive and with a lower environmental impact than the acquisition of a new electric vehicle, electric conversion extends the life of old cars by considerably reducing their maintenance costs.
I guess it does not cost anything to enquire.

Infos
G7 – The German Chancellor is refusing to go in person to a G7 summit in the United States in June, as proposed by the US President, because of the coronavirus pandemic. I wonder if she will be the only one.
Other news are quite depressing. Riots in the USA, Trump v Twitter, Trump v WHO, Hong Kong etc etc.
WordPress – In the meantime I am getting used to the new blog editor although I am still searching how to format things. I’ll get there even if it takes me a little longer than before.

Food and drinks

Gin Basil Smash
- 50 ml London dry gin (or a gin of your choice)
- big bunch of basil leaves
- 25 ml fresh lemon juice (about 1/2 a lemon)
- 15 mil simple syrup or half a teaspoon sugar
- ice and a cocktail shaker
Put gin, basil, sugar and lemon juice in cocktail shaker. Cut up the lemon into 3 pieces and add it as well. Muddle it all together to break up the basil. Add ice. Shake hard. Shake hard again. And a third time. Strain into a short cocktail glass full of ice. Add a garnish or basil. Drink but not too fast:). Enjoy. You can use other herbs if you don’t like basil – cilantro (coriander, mint are two suggested)
