Day 74 and 6th day of de-confinement week 3

The data for Occitanie and the Aude departement was made available yesterday afternoon so I updated yesterday’s post accordingly.

Some more details on our Aude departement

On May 28th, the department of Aude was classified green by the government. This colour was attributed according to three criteria: the active circulation of the virus, the hospital tension in resuscitation and the capacity in tests. The color of the department determines certain modalities of the deconfinement since May 11, such as the opening or not of colleges, parks and gardens.

In this department, 15 people were still hospitalized on May 28, including 3 in intensive care, in connection with Covid-19. This number was at its maximum on 4 April, with 20 patients in intensive care. In terms of the population, the number of people in intensive care in this department is much lower than the national average.

The total number of coronavirus-related deaths in hospitals in this department has risen to 55 since the beginning of the epidemic, or 14.8 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants. By way of comparison, the national average is 27.3 hospital deaths related to Covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants. At the same time, 218 people have returned to their homes in the department.

Finally, the total number of deaths, all causes combined, over the period from 1 March to 20 April 2020 in the department of Aude represents a 9% excess mortality compared to 2019, according to INSEE. At the national level, this excess mortality is 27%.
