Day 219 – 43rd day of de-confinement phase IV in France

The Coronavirus second wave is certaintly under way with quite a vengeance in Europe. Records number of new cases are being recorded everyday. This morning 14.719 in Germany for the past 24 hours. Yesterday 42.032 new cases in France. The epicentre appears to be Belgium, go and figure. That makes the latest announcement from RyanAir to cancel all flights to and from Carcassonne except the ones from Belgium somewhat weird.

✒︎Do not forget to switch to winter time tonight. It could be the last year this is done since Europe voted to stick to summer time in the future.
✒︎ Assassination of Samuel Paty
Being a teacher
“It means transmitting and anticipating, preparing the lessons with particular attention, because each lesson is important;
It means entering a class and feeling being in the right place;
It means spotting a glow in the eyes of the pupils, it means noticing when they drop out and going to pick them up;
It’s being happy when you’ve made them react to what moves you;
It is to have ambition for them and to open the doors for them, because spiritual and knowledge ones are infinite;
It is to develop their critical mind to make them free.
All this, Samuel, you knew, and better still, you embodied it.
For you had the highest idea of what the teaching profession is all about.
Your family has testified to the President of the Republic and to me of your high standards and your extreme tolerance.
Their dignity has overwhelmed us.
Today, with you, we are all teachers. »
(Brigitte Macron)
✒︎ Christmas markets I expected this to happen. Here is the 1st announcement: Strasbourg gives up its Christmas market because of Covid-19 but maintains animations. The mayor of Strasbourg has announced that the Christmas market with chalets is cancelled because of the health crisis. Only animations are maintained in the streets.
✒︎The Coliseum cinema will reopen its doors on November 19th. I hope they will still show foreign films in the original language.
