Day 39 of the second confinement & 17 days left till 🌲Christmas 🌲

🔷🔷🔷

The Covid crisis is far from over. No sooner there are very timid signs that the peak of the second wave is behind us, due to a lot of efforts by the whole country, than the risk of a third wave appears on the horizon. In the USA, this is already reality and worse than the previous ones.

Be very cautious with your Christmas & Year End plans!

Targets to be reached by December 15th to stop the confinement

Unfortunately, the low figure for the number of daily cases doed noy reflect the reality. This is due to the fact that during the weekend there is a slow down of the reporting.

Latest info on PCR Tests

The latest data is always 3 to 4 days in the past

In addition, there is an increasing number of antigenic tests being carried , the number of which is estimated to be close to 200,000 in the last week of November. For the time being, I cannot find reliable daily data on this.

🇬🇧 Equivalent expression: pie in the sky

🇩🇪 Equivalent: luftschlösser bauen

🔹Local News

The Bouchara and Celio shops will close soon. A toy shop, Pikastore, and a second-hand shop will open.

🔹 Driving Licenses

Brexit is around the corner, only 24 days to go and despite the last minute neogtiations taking place at the moment, there are 1.000s of open items. For instance what happens if you hold a British Driving license and you are living in France (or any EU country)?

Well the current status says you have to exchange your British Driving License for a French one within 1 year.

Here is the current official document (in French)

🔹Sailing

You might have noticed that I like most things around sailing. I am only an amateur and have learned the basics on a small Fennek dinghy I co-owned in my late teens.

Not only the toughest round the world sailing race “Vendée Globe”, is currently taking place, but a world record attempt started from Ouessant (France) on a trimaran. It is called “Trophée Jules Verne”. The first attempt took place in 1993.

Since their departure on November 25th at 2h55, Thomas Coville and his seven team-mates have covered 8154 miles (15 101 km), at an average speed of 28 knots.

Over the last 48 hours, they have lengthened their stride with average speeds of nearly 70 km/h. At the passage of the Cape of Good Hope, they counted 17 hours and 35 minutes of margin compared to the Jules Verne Trophy holder.

Since 30th November, they will have taken 6 days 16 hours 15min to cross the South Atlantic between the Equator and the South African Cape (Idec Sport time 7d 00h 30min).
