Day 44 of the second confinement & 12 days left till ๐ฒChristmas ๐ฒ
๐ท๐ท๐ท

โซ๏ธ The bad news is that my main computer suddenly packed up yesterday afternoon. It feels like it does not get any power. The screen remains black and there is absolutely no life inside when I try to turn it on. It could be something as simple as a broken fuse or even the lead cable but I fear it is much worse.
I am not cut off the world, I have laptops, a Raspberry PI, an iPad and a couple of Amazon tablets + my phone of course. But none have the power, speed and large screen my 27″ iMac has.
I need an adaptor cable for my MacBook Air to be able to connect to my WLAN. I have ordered one immediately.
Most of my important & working files are in the Cloud which I can access from anywhere. My emails, up to yesterday afternoon, however are not. For security reason, I delete all emails, once downloaded on the computer from the provider’s server (something I would encourage everyone to do and avoid possible identity theft which is getting fairly common). So there might be some emails I have not answered yet and will not be able to till I get everything sorted out. I apologise if one of yours is included.
Working on web pages, graphics etc is suddenly far more tedious and slow and somehow with different formats. I might have to give up on the daily / weekly confinement posts till I have a solution (repair, new purchase…) unless I am up to spending double the amount of hours.
I started this post last evening 10pm till 1130pm because I had to convert many excel files to new formats.

The epidemic is rising slightly, since the end of November. The cold and a slackening of behaviour are to blame according to experts. It can only get worse with the year-end festivities and the inevitable get-togethers.

No one is immune, carry on being vigilant

โซ๏ธ Interesting to see that Germany topped, in Europe, the daily number of new cases the day before yesterday (December 11th). Quite a worry when your family and friends lives there.
Be very cautious with your Christmas & Year End plans! Try not to meet people.

The daily Christmas song (#12)
Not necessarily the songs you hear non-stop on the radio. Not too sure I would like it.

Original Targets for December 15th
The number of new daily cases is simply not going down

In future, I shall possibly include a rolling week average which clearly shows the current stagnating number of new cases.

Latest info on PCR Tests
Since December 8th, in addition to the results of PCR tests, the results of antigenic tests have been used to produce national and territorial epidemiological indicators (incidence rate, positivity rate and screening rate).
I think it is quite incredible to see that 42% of the population has already been tested (that is assuming 1 test per head of course)

Here is another unusual saying:

๐น A third French duck farm has been contaminated in the Landes by the bird flu virus, the prefecture of this department announced on Saturday 12 December, where the level of risk of contagion “remains high”.

๐น VENDEE GLOBE: Thomas Ruyant (LinkedOut) continues to reduce the gap with Charlie Dalin (Apivia), leader of the fleet. There are now only 62,5 nautical miles (115,6 km) between the two men, who are approaching Cape Leeuwin, Australia.

No walk as such yesterday apart from a quick trip into town looking for something specific. No luck there.
