▫️ Vaccinations: Something fishy is going on. Some are disputing the data arguing that the numbers revealed are the number of doses used and not the number of people being vaccinated for the 1st time as it is indicated. And suddenly, no official data has been made available for yesterday.
▫️ The traditional weekly update on the health situation at 6pm will not take place on today. Instead, Health Minister Olivier Véran will speak at 2pm from his ministry. He is expected to speak for about fifteen minutes before answering journalists’ questions, while the government is maintaining the vagueness about a hypothetical reconfinement of the country in the coming days.

▫️ Vendée Globe – Dramatic finish
For me, they are all winners. Some more than the others.
It is a victory that will go down in the annals. Yannick Bestaven (Maître Coq IV) crossed the finish line of the Vendée Globe on Thursday 28th January in third position, but he was nevertheless declared the winner because of the compensation he received for having participated in the rescue of Kevin Escoffier.
Charlie Dalin (Apivia) was the first to complete the circumnavigation of the world on Wednesday at 20:35, followed by Louis Burton (Bureau Vallée 2) four hours later, but neither of them was affected by compensation and so they finished second and third respectively in the solo round the world race.
Yannick Bestaven, taking part in his second Vendée Globe, crossed the finish line in rough seas at 4 hours 19 minutes and 46 seconds. He thus arrived 7 hours, 53 minutes and 59 seconds behind Charlie Dalin.
After the rescue of Kevin Escoffier, the Vendée Globe jury had decided that once the finish line was crossed, Yannick Bestaven’s race time would be deducted by 10 hours and 15 minutes.
German Boris Herrmann (SeaExplorer-Yacht Club de Monaco) also benefits from a six-hour compensation after this rescue, but he hit a fishing boat on Wednesday evening and just arrived as I write this (watching live coverage at the same time).
On November 8, 33 skippers had taken the start. Eight dropped out during this race marked by difficult weather conditions that did not allow the record of 74 days and 3 hours set in 2017 by Armel Le Cléac’h to be beaten.
