A rockin’ Night in Carcassonne
Golf, grub and groovy tunes
After a triumphant round of golf (where I may or may not have lost a few balls to the water hazards), a refreshing shower, and a pit stop at my brother’s for some much-needed hydration, it was time to head to the Cité de Carcassonne. Why, you ask? Because we had tickets to one of the concerts of the year, part of the annual Town Festival!
Before diving into the musical madness, we made a strategic stop at the Régalade courtyard. A couple of hundred yards away from the main theatre, this spot was perfect for some pre-concert refreshments and a quick bite. With our bellies full and spirits high, we sauntered over to the already buzzing Jean-Deschamps theatre, ready for a night of rock ‘n’ roll.

Status Quo: The Legends Return
First up, the legendary Status Quo. Now, if you haven’t seen these guys in a while, you might be in for a surprise. Gone are the long hair, baggy jeans, and iconic moustaches of the 60s. Instead, think white shirts and trendy sneakers. Fashion may have changed, but their music? Absolutely timeless. The packed theatre was electric as they belted out classic after classic, transporting us back to the golden days of rock. Among the crowd, a group of enthusiastic Mexican fans in the front row added to the vibrant atmosphere, proving that good music knows no borders.
The Stranglers: Rocking the Night Away
As the sun set and the anticipation grew, it was time for The Stranglers to take the stage. At precisely 10pm, the lights dimmed, and a dramatic play of red, black, purple, and yellow lights set the scene. The first notes hit, and the crowd was instantly captivated. The Stranglers delivered an intense, non-stop performance that kept the rock ‘n’ roll energy alive all night. Lead singer Baz Warn’s interaction with the fans added a personal touch, making the concert an unforgettable experience filled with nostalgia and pure rock magic.
So, there you have it—a night of golf, great food, and legendary music in the heart of Carcassonne. Who could ask for more? 🎸🍻⛳
