The small manufacturer from Sarthe became big. With a more reliable engine and a slightly modified aerodynamic system, Jean Rondeau achieved a feat that is still unequalled today. The Manceau, exhausted at the end of the race, was taken over by Jean Pierre Jaussaud in the last two stints to stabilise the gap with the Ickx Porsche. The victory at the end of this race is a consecration for the Sarthe team.
