Today should be a relaxing one. It is our last day in town before crossing to the other side of the island tomorrow morning. Maybe some shopping 🛍️ is a good idea.

Shopping done, found an ATM to replenish, time to find our way to the sea front via the Old Fort for our lunch reservation.
Lobster lunch at an extremely reasonable price
Internet is quite capricious and in the best of cases very slow. That does not stop me from having a pleasant breakfast on the hotel’s rooftop. I think we have a new friend.
Today is more exploring on the agenda
There are 2 cathedrals to be investigated. One Catholic and one Anglican the latter being located at the slave market from yesteryears.
We paid for a tour of the slave market and it was worth it. I learned a few things. I was not aware that the Arabs from Oman 🇴🇲 were in charge and responsible for it all.
The rest of the day was spent visiting and re-visiting water holes and restaurants including a very good Indian one in the evening.
Actually the first full day on the island and some exploring of Stone Town is on the cards. It is in fact a lot of work in the intense heat.
The sea front is only a few minutes away and I can recommend the « Cape Town Fish Market » for a break and a coffee.
We found a very pleasant spot and restaurant on top of the Maru Maru hotel.
Then it is back to the hotel to cool off and take a digestive snooze.
For dinner, we had been recommended the Tea House at Emerson Spice for which I had made reservations before leaving France.
The plan is to arrive at 6pm for a sunset cocktail 🍸 followed by a 7 (relatively small) courses. Quite pleasant.
I am packed, hand luggage only. Looking forward to the day there is a universal plug (hopefully USB-C) for all the electronics I am taking with me (phone, tablet, reader, watch, headphones, batteries, stylus etc).
Not forgetting a plug 🔌 adapter needed in Tanzania.
This will be a nie addition to my comic book. I am more and more amazed of what it is possible to do with AI (Artificial Intelligence).
In this particular case I prompted AI to draw a Ford GT40 in the Gulf livery parked in front of the old Cité of Carcassonne. I transformed the result into a cartoon myself with some of my favorite applications.
On line check-in will be available in less than 5 hours for our scheduled flights tomorrow and the day after to East Africa.

Car, après quatre éditions organisées à Toulouse, sur l’aéroport de Francazal, dont celle de 2022 qui a attiré plus de 40 000 spectateurs en 2022, l’association Des étoiles et des ailes a décidé de changer de cap : son 5e meeting aérien aura lieu dans la préfecture de l’Aude, les 21 et 22 septembre prochains, en partenariat avec la Région Occitanie, la Ville de Carcassonne et Carcassonne agglo.

After four editions organised in Toulouse, at Francazal airport, including the one in 2022 which attracted more than 40,000 spectators, the Des étoiles et des ailes association has decided to change course: its 5th airshow will take place in the Aude prefecture on 21 and 22 September, in partnership with the Occitanie region, the town of Carcassonne and Carcassonne agglo.
🇫🇷 Plus que 10 jours avant de partir en vacances dans l’ocean Indien et plus précisément sur l’ile de Unguja dans l’archipel de Zanzibar en Tanzanie. Air France nous emportera en comfort “Classe Affaire” directement de Paris CDG à Zanzibar Town situé sur la côte ouest de l’ile. Nous logerons quelques jours dans la vieille ville avant de déménager sur la côte Est à la baie de Pongwe avec ses eaux turquoises et plages de sable blanc.
🇬🇧 Only 10 days left before embarking on a vacation in the Indian Ocean, specifically on the island of Unguja in the Zanzibar Archipelago, Tanzania. Air France will whisk us away in Business Class comfort directly from Paris CDG directly to Stone Town located on the west coast of the island. We’ll spend a few days in the old town before relocating to Pongwe Bay on the East coast to enjoy the turquoise sea and white sandy beaches.
